Our theme this Advent and Christmas was ‘Let there be Light’ , so it was appropriate that the church was decorated with lots of lights radiating out from the cross and around the church, creating a bright, yet homely and welcoming feel.
Each week we explored one of the traditional Advent themes, with services entitled Let there be Hope, Let there be Peace, Let there be Love and Let there be Joy, concluding with Let there be Light on Christmas Day. These themes were also displayed in specially painted pictures.
A feature this year was the ‘story chair’ and each week a part of the Christmas story was read from the chair using Bob Hartman’s Storyteller Christmas Book, which was enjoyed by children and adults alike.
