Simon Airey
29th November 2008
Twelve years ago, whilst living on the border of Scotland, Simon was introduced to a master storyteller called Angela Knowles. She acted as a mentor for him over the next few years and he worked with her regularly in a storytelling initiative called The Telling Place.
For the last five years, Simon has worked half time as an Anglican Priest in order to do more storytelling on both a professional basis and purely for fun. Simon’s stories include traditional folk and fairytale, sacred stories, personal and historical stories. He has told at the usual assortment of places: festivals, theatres, pubs, schools, cafes, places of worship and historical interest, outdoors and overseas! He also does workshops and courses in storytelling skills when requested, although he maintains that all you need as a storyteller you already have within you.
Simon has recently been awarded Golden Yarnspinner award at the Bristol Storytelling Festival.
A spell binding evening indeed!

We were transported into a magical world by a comsumate weaver of words
Listening to Simon telling his stories enabled me to imagine how people must have felt and been totally entralled by the stories Jesus told.
His stories transported me into a different world
