CArgo flier

1st December saw our second Café Arts concert.

Paul Field has been a professional Christian composer, songwriter, singer & record producer for almost 30 years. He has won an Ivor Novello award from The British Academy of Songwriters, a Dove award (and 2 Nominations) from GMA Nashville and several awards in America. He has written and produced songs on many Gold & Platinum records for artists around the world.  He’s also written several musicals, children’s songs and music for theatre, television and advertising. At Café Arts, Paul was accompanied by Mike Haughton, another very talented musician.

As well as some of his favourite songs, Paul  performed musical extracts from his new production, ‘Cargo’. Paul wrote Cargo to mark the abolition of the British Slave trade two hundred years ago and to celebrate the work of the abolitionists, William Wilberforce, Thomas Clarkson and others. Through it he hopes to raise awareness of the slavery that still exists today in it’s many forms and to highlight its inextricable links with poverty, injustice and unfair trade. This was an awe inspiring evening, with good music and a challenging message.
